An early morning shooting on Interstate 94 near Canalport Avenue left a 22-year-old man dead and another person critically injured.
Both people were traveling northbound in a Nissan Sentra when shots rang out about 2:35 a.m..
Following the shooting, the damaged car pulled up to Rush University Medical Center, with two of its occupants bleeding from gunshot wounds.
A third adult occupant of the vehicle was not hurt in the shooting
The 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at 3:05 a.m..
The medical examiner's office identified him as Lavonshay Cooper, of the 4200 block of West Cortez Street.
The other person shot was transferred to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was listed in critical but stable condition
